Sun Flower 2-9-2013
I found this solitary sunflower standing tall along a garden border during an overcast afternoon walk. The heavy cloud deck broke apart just long enough to throw direct, warm sunlight across the face of the bloom, giving me a clean window to line up a close foreground perspective. Getting underneath the flower head helped isolate its vibrant yellow petals against the open sky.
Golden yellow petals radiate out from the dense, textured seed center, highlighted by natural afternoon sun that brings out individual ridges on every petal surface. A deep blue sky with soft white clouds sits just behind the flower head, creating a strong contrast that fills the wide frame cleanly.
